New Local Beer Blog
Don Cazentre, Post Standard Regional Editor, has a new beer/wine/whiskey blog called simply "Drinks" on the syracuse.com web site.
In his own words:
"This blog is about enjoying the good stuff - whether yours is beer, wine, whiskey or even Midori (you know, that melon-flavored stuff).
But let's get this straight from the start: It is not about getting trashed, driving drunk or making a nuisance of yourself after you've had too many.
Our motto could be: Drink less. Drink better.
In fact that's the motto of one my favorite breweries in the world, Unibroue of Chambly, Quebec (just outside Montreal). They make the excellent Fin Du Monde, Trois Pistoles, Don de Dieu and other beers.
So check here frequently for updates on the world of responsible drinking in Central New York."

2008 SCBC Summer Party
The annual SCBC summer party will be on August 16th, 2008, starting at 1:00 PM and wrapping up after everyone leaves or cries uncle. Pete kirkgasser and his special brewing team is making three excellent homebrews just for this party, and the club will be providing lots of cook out foods and whatever you guys bring to share. There is also a pond and a hot-tub.
The party will be at Mike and Beth Kendrick's in Prebble, just South of the I81 exit. There is space to pitch tents for those who've had a few too many, or if you just want to camp the night.
If you plan on attending, bring a dish to pass, and you might also want to bring lawn chairs, games, bathing suit and towel, fishing equipment, or anything else that lends itself to outdoor entertainment. We may need an extra grill if anyone can supply one. Tents, ice, coolers would also be helpful
Where is this place? Just down 81-S a bit, more directions to come. We will have ample room to have fun, make a bit of noise, enjoy some beer and spend the night camped out if you've had a few too many.June 2008

The new web site design is finally up, and hopefully everyone finds it an improvement over our old one, which was starting to get pretty dated.
It have been tested in all of the major web browsers, but if anyone is having any problems viewing anything, please let me know.

Site Face Lift
The SCBC web site is looking pretty dated these days, and it's time fr a face lift. You won't notice anything different on the main site until all of the new changes have been made, but if you're interested in the progress, you can check on it here.
New Link to Wyeast
Mick Barnes sent in a useful link that I've added to our Links page; A yeast pitching rate and growth calculator from Wyeast. It's definitely a useful tool, check it out.
